Default Anyone else have rhododendrons blooming in mid-November?

I was very surprised when my rhodies started blooming a few days ago. Must be the unusual weather/climate here on the coast this year. I haven't been able to get out and about to see if others are blooming. Has anyone else seen this happen?

I'm looking across the street at my neighbors rhododendrons, and they are not blooming. they have about 6 big, old rhodies.

Thanks... I still think it is really a fluke. I've never seen any bloom so late. I hope that all the buds don't open so they will bloom next year. I think they are supposed to be forming buds for next year at this time.

they're blooming early, not late. one of mine is doing the same, and so are some of my neighbors'. today is the first day our low temps have been below 50f during november. lots of rain (oct) followed by warm temps makes plants think it's spring.

rhodies are interesting plants. if you cultivate enough varieties, you can get blooms 11 months out of 12 in coastal oregon.

Default Rhodies

We have a few and lots of azaleas. One of the Rhodies always blooms off season and is currently in full bloom.
